Author Dolly Haik-Adams Berthelot is one of eight selected speakers. Each will share a relevant personal story within a strict six minutes limit. Dr Dolly’s tale from the turbulent 1960s is entitled “From Racist White Roots to Improbable Black Voices Teacher.” She includes a peek at a Ku Klux Klan rally in the dark piney woods outside her home town of Bogalusa, LA.

In very different ways, each of Dr Dolly’s two books published by Energion Expand address various issues of diversity that have been crucial in her personal and professional life. PERFECTLY SQUARE, A Fantasy Fable for All Ages, uses colorful geometric shape characters in a fun, inspiring tale pertinent to every kind of human difference, conflict, and potential cooperation.

SCARS TO STARS is a mini memoir tracing Dr Dolly’s religious/philosophical evolution from devout Catholic to Mystical Humanist Unitarian Universalist. Starting with a seemingly tragic young love, SCARS TO STARS shows how the worst that happens (to individuals and to society) can often have great benefits. In both the fiction PERFECTLY SQUARE and nonfiction SCARS TO STARS, the underlying theme is the essentialness of human interconnectiveness and striving for the common good. These are also crucial aspects of Equity Project Alliance.

Others sharing relevant aspects of their personal stories Jan. 16 are Donza Stanley, Juanita Scott, Leah Kocke, Nicole Dibono, Sherry Ponds, JD Crowe, and Kolleen Chesley.

Attendance is free. Substantial refreshments will be available.

Spurred by deep concerns over the George Floyd murder of 2020, Project Alliance was initiated by Innisfree Hotel Founder Julian McQueen, the entrepreneur/philanthropist who continues to support it.

Executive Director Dr. Lusharon Wiley, may be contacted about the Equity Project: lusharon@equityprojectalliance.com.
